Net Neutrality
Six media companies now control more than 95% of all the major newspapers, radio and TV resources in the United States. Decisions on what we see and hear as "news" is determined by these few concentrations of power. The Internet is an exception. It is the one place where 1st amendment freedom of speech flourishes. This freedom is a threat (as freedom always seems to be) to these companies. Net neutrality is under attack with with a lobbying effort of more than $1.5 million per day being spent to shut down the diverse voices being heard on the Internet. |
