On August 4th & 5th, 2006, the American Friends Service Committee brought their Eyes Wide Open traveling exhibit to Portland.

It gave me an opportunity to see and touch the shoes of some soldiers and children killed in the senseless war in Iraq.

I was taken by the shoes of the children. They could be shoes from children from Portland or Beaverton. They are strong proxies from killed children crying for responsible adults to make this nonsense stop.
